Portal de l'Àngel

‘Portal de l’Àngel’ is a pedestrian street located in ‘CiutatVella’, a district of Barcelona near ‘Plaça Catalunya’. It is a shopping area. It's one of the most visited streets in the city and it is always crowded with tourists and locals all year round.

In “Portal de l’Àngel” we can have a walk while enjoying part of the heart of Barcelona. While we drift around, we can have something to eat such as an ice cream or a sweet apple.

Athough it is a relatively narrow street, we can shop in a lot of different boutiques, such as Zara, Massimo Dutti, H&M, Benetton, Disney, Bershka, Mango, Oysho, El Corte Inglés…

Sometimes we can even enjoy live performances!

We usually visit this part of Barcelona because it is one of our favourite parts. And it is shady! If you want to amble along and see a bunch of different kinds of shops, you definitely have to visit ‘Portal de l’Àngel’.

Curious fact: Portal de l'Àngel is noteworthy for being the most expensive street in Spain, with an average rental price of €265 per square meter in 2013.

How to get there?
It is very easy to get to “Portal de l’Àngel”. We can go by metro or bus, but we recommend you to take the first one. Get off at “Plaça Catalunya” if you use the lines L1, L3, L6 and L7. Just walk down the street and enjoy it!

La Rambla

La Rambla is a street in central Barcelona, next to Plaça Catalunya and Portal de l’Àngel, popular with tourists and locals alike. It connects Plaça Catalunya with the Christopher Columbus Monuments at Port Vell. It forms boundary between the quarters of Barri Gòtic (East) and El Raval (West).

La Rambla is crowded because of its popularity. There you can find all kinds of shops where you can buy everything you wish: flowers, souvenirs, ice creams, newspapers... There are also street performers and pavement cafes and bars.

Walking along La Rambla you can find some historic buildings as the famous Liceu Theatre in which operas and ballets are staged. You can also find La Boqueria, the most famous market in Barcelona where you can buy exotic and rare goods.
To reach La Rambla is very easy. You can go with the metro:

L3 because it runs beneath the length of La Rambla. Stations: Catalunya, Liceu and Drassanes.

You can also go with the L1 and stop in Plaça Catalunya and reach La Rambla.

Personally, La Rambla is one of our favourite places in Barcelona. You can find anything you want and very different people take a walk in La Rambla and enjoy one of the best places of Barcelona.

SANT JOAN

Sant Joan’ is one of the most expected and long-awaited days of the year. We celebrate the arrival of the summer (two days after though) on the 23rd of June, the shortest night of the year. The party last until the next day, the 24th.
Sant Joan is one of Barcelona's biggest parties and the noisiest and possibly the craziest. It's a night of Fireworks, Coca cakes and Cava, but not of sleep. During this night we join into an open-air dance (in catalan called ‘revetlla’) with all our relatives and friends.
Sant Joan events in Barcelona are organised locally by the districts and civic centres of Barcelona and people just celebrate the evening with dinners, parties, firecrackers and bonfires all over Catalonia. The biggest central gathering on the Nit de Sant Joan is on the beaches of Barcelona, which attract crowds of around 75.000 people.
And to make it a perfect night, you shouldn’t miss the traditional ‘coca’ of Sant Joan.

Blanes

‘Blanes’ is a town and municipality in the comarca of Selva in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is known for its coast, which is part of the ‘Costa Brava’ and stretches from ‘Blanes’ up to the French border.
The beaches in the ‘Costa Brava’ are unique. Its waters are crystalline and the sights are beautiful. In the water we can see fishes and sea creatures, which are amazing. It is a different beach that you should totally visit – if you have time. We recommend this beach and each one from the ‘Costa Brava’!

Curious fact: During the 21st and the 27th of July there is a firework display (in Blanes) known as ‘Concurs de Focs d’Artifici’, which attracts more than 500,000 visitors. This is an international competition in which various countries from around the world participate. Over 500,000 kg of fireworks are used at each event. Most people watch the fireworks from the beach.
