REC Igualada

REC.0 EXPERIMENTAL STORES

Rec.0 Experimental Stores is a new concept of retail. It is the transformation of an old industrial neighbourhood, called Rec (Igualada). Twice a year and during 4 days, the old factories and tanneries become pop up fashion stores where top brands sell their stocks and samples at low price.

It was born on November of 2009 by the hand of six people who were committed with Rec’s neighbourhood, and they wanted to make the quarter known and connect it with the fashion’s world.

The last edition was on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of June (Rec.011), but each edition is different from the other. It is a good chance to find top brands, such as Adidas, Mango, Desigual… at low price in a very especial atmosphere. However, it is not only fashion, but culture too. There are cultural activities like concerts, poetry reading, exhibitions, projections…

How to get there:

Public transport
You can get to Igualada with ‘Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya’ and with the buses of the company ‘Hispano Igualadina’. From the bus station there’s an urban bus service with a stop in the ‘Rambla de SantIsidre’, near the quarter of Rec.

1. HISPANO IGUALADINA:
From Barcelona: A bus leaves each 30 minutes. (timetables here) and stops in Igualada in three different points. The option of Express Bus is the fastest one, is non-stop and it lasts 45 minutes. To go to Rec’s quarter, is better to get off the bus on the 2nd stop, in ‘Passeig Verdaguer’. By foot, you have to cross Cal Font square and the Rambla until you arrive to Rec’s neighbourhood (5 min more or less).

2. TRAIN:
Train departure: Pl Barcelona-Spain.

Length: 1:20 Station

Location: The stop is 20 minutes from the Rec neighbourhood. The bus runs every 20 minutes from Monday to Friday, and each 30 minutes on Saturdays, and arrives in ‘Plaza de la Cruz’ (next to the Rec district).

From Barcelona, the fastest option is the bus.

Car park
Near the Rec’s quarter there are 3 free car parks.

There are also paying car parks in the centre (1 minute walking from Rec’s district).

On the city centre, 1 minute by foot, there are blue zone car parks.

Passeig de Gràcia

‘Passeig de Gràcia’ is one of the major avenues in Barcelona and one of its most important shopping and business areas, containing several of the city's most celebrated pieces of architecture. It is located in the central part of ‘Eixample’, stretching from ‘Plaça Catalunya’ to ‘Carrer Gran de Gràcia’.

There are lots of luxurious shops along“Passeig de Gràcia”. As a result, it is sometimes compared to walk in the “Champs Elysees” in Paris and the “Fifth Avenue” in New York.

We love ‘Passeig de Gràcia’ because we can have a walk while seeing Barcelona and its magnificent buildings. Among these buildings, the most important and recognized ones are:

· Casa Batlló by Antoni Gaudí (1904-1906)

· Casa Bonaventura Ferrer by Pere Falqués i Urpí (1906)

· Casa Milà "La Pedrera" by Antoni Gaudí (1905-1910)

We recommend this avenue if you want to go shopping, have a walk and see a luxurious part of Barcelona.

Curious fact: “Passeig de Gràcia” is regarded as the most expensive street in Barcelona and in Spain.

How to get there?

We can go by metro: stop at “Passeig de Gràcia” (L1) and “Diagonal” (L3).

We can also get there by bus and train, but we always recommend the metro to move around in Barcelona.

Plaça Catalunya

Today we are going to inform you about ‘Plaça de Catalunya’, meaning in English "Catalonia Square”. This plaça is a large square in central Barcelona that is generally considered to be its city centre. From this plaça we can go to ‘Portal de l’Àngel’, ‘Passeig de Gràcia’, ‘El Barri Gòtic’ or ‘Les Rambles’, two of the busiest places in Barcelona. (We will post more information about these places soon).

We can reach ‘Plaça Catalunya’ easily. We can go there by metro, bus… Nevertheless, we recommend the metro because it is very simple. You can take the following lines: L1, L3, L6 and L7.

Once we arrive to the plaça, we will be surrounded by high buildings, shops and restaurants. The plaça is round and it is surrounded by some benches and green areas, with some trees that provide shade and beautiful fountains.

In this plaça we will find some stands in which we can buy food for the big number of pigeons, which we can always find in the plaça. Children love buying birdseeds and running among the pigeons.

As we have said before, we can find shops and restaurants. The most recognized shops we can find are Desigual and Sfera, and there are two of the most important shopping centres, which are “El Corte Inglés” (one of the most prestigious department stores in Spain) and “El Triangle”, which is our favourite because inside we can find Urban Outfitters, FNAC, cafés (like Starbucks), restaurants like UDON and Buenas Migas and some more.

Personally, we think this place is one of the most beautiful of Barcelona. We love the atmosphere and, even though it can be crowded, it is lovely. We like the fact that ‘Plaça Catalunya’ connects everything important in Barcelona.

Curious fact: when it is Winter, people can go to a skating rink that is put there. It is beautiful and a different way to enjoy this place!

We truly recommend this site in Barcelona. You can’t leave Barcelona without having visited it!

Foster's Hollywood

Foster’s Hollywood is a restaurant of American food. The restaurant is decorated as a traditional American restaurant would be, and the food is served in big proportions.

In Foster’s Hollywood the food is divided by:

ENTRANTS:

Here you can find tasty dishes such as fries with cheese and bacon, combinations of chicken with different sauces, onion rings… However, our recommendation is to take the nachos “San Francisco” as entrants, as they are different and delicious!

SALADS:

In the menu you can find salads with cheese, jam, tomatoes…

HAMBURGERS:
Nevertheless, the most recommended dishes are the hamburgers. They are divided in three sizes:

Big: 10 Oz - 12.25 €

Medium: ½ LB - 10.80 €

Little: ¼ LB - 9.00 €

There are more than 10 kinds of hamburgers. From the typical ones, with cheese, tomato, lettuce, etc. to hamburgers such as the “Black Label”, which you can personalize.

RIBS:
You can also find ribs with fries and different types of sauces.

STEACKHOUSE SPECIALITIES:

As we have said before, in Foster’s Hollywood the meat is served in very different forms. You can find diversity among grilled meat, like sirloin or steaks with fries and different sauces.

TEX-MEX:

Mexican food is available too. You can have burritos, chili con carne or fajitas.

CHICKEN & FISH:

Served with fries, these are very good dishes too. We recommend the Cavatappi Chicken Pasta, which is made of pasta with a delicious sauce with a mix of cheese and onion. It includes two slices of chicken and two toasts too.

SANDWICHES:

If you prefer sandwiches you can have them too. They are served with fries and slices of tomato. Of course, they are in big proportions too!

DESSERTS:

After eating this huge and delicious meal, you can have a dessert (if your stomach can bear it). The desserts are very tasty too, and count with a variety of cakes, ice creams and pancakes.

KIDS MENU:

The kids menu is available too. Children can choose pizza, hamburgers, macaroni...

The prices may be a little bit more expensive because of the size of the dishes. Nevertheless, if you have this for lunch, you probably won’t want to have dinner!

In Barcelona you can find 5 Foster’s Hollywood:

FH Balmes – Balmes Street, 37

FH Diagonal Mar– Diagonal Mar (Shopping centre), Av. DiagonalStreet, 3

FH Heron City Barcelona – Heron City Barcelona (Shopping centre), Avenida Rio de Janeiro Street, 42

FH La Maquinista – La Maquinista (Shopping centre), Passeig de PotosíStreet, 2, local A, 14

We recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy a good meal in any of the places above. If you need more information click HERE and you will get the official page of Foster’s Hollywood Spain.
